On Monday, June 22, 2026, Aurora’s City Council voted to seek more government debt for the taxpayers of Aurora. This debt request will be on Aurora’s ballot this November 3rd.
It takes twice as much valuable money, whatever it is that we want for our City, when we use debt. When we use debt, we cut our tax dollar in half – half for the fire station, and the other half to the banks and bond markets for debt service.

We’ll build twice as many fire stations, per tax dollar, when we do not use debt. Without using debt we get more and pay less. Basic math my friends.
It NEVER makes sense to pay twice as much for our fire stations, libraries, roads, bridges, parks and police stations. Using debt takes twice as much tax money per spend, on average, as not using debt.

Enough is enough – we need to cut the banks from our public budgets.
The banks are playing the long game and our politicians are playing the sort-sided nonsense game.
Our government has no investors, it has tax money, that’s it. Banks don’t invest, they lend. Bonds aren’t financial assistance, they’re debt. Tax money pays for every penny of development.
It’s very important to stop prioritizing debt and debt service. Unfortunately, this has been status quo for too many years.
Aurora’s government wants another $264 million in new debt for the taxpayers of Aurora. If we win the NO Vote this November, we’ll save the tax payers of Aurora approximately $300 million to $400 million in wasted tax money… interest, fees, and other costs… debt service.
Government debt is a terrible waste of valuable money.

Every dollar we give to the bank buys just as much for the City as every dollar we throw into a trash can. When we use debt, we take our City’s budget and we give it to the banks and bond markets. Government debt only exacerbates our budget problems.
The very idea that more debt is good for the City is pure nonsense. There’s no time like the present to change the future.
Vote NO New Debt this November 3rd.
